2010 National Title I Conference

Session Types

Presentations at the 2010 National Title I Conference will include a variety of approaches to provide attendees with options to address learning styles and interest levels.

Major Thinkers: Sessions in this category focus on speakers who offer cutting-edge research, mind-expanding concepts, or interesting theories. They are lecture-based and may or may not include handout materials, at the discretion of the speaker.

Nuts & Bolts: Sessions in this category focus on practical applications, replicable programs, or detailed explanations of policy. They may be lecture-based or interactive and all speakers in these sessions are required to provide handout materials.

Viewpoints: Sessions in this category will provide a panel of speakers with differing opinions on the presentation topic. They are discussion-based, in some cases incorporating audience questions, and handout materials are requested from all speakers in these sessions.

Book Clubs: Sessions in this category bring authors into smaller, more intimate, settings to lead attendees in discussions of a Conference topic covered in their book. Participants are urged to read the book prior to the Conference and handout materials will include the discussion questions and suggested further reading.

Brainstorms: Sessions in this category offer twelve different speakers on a single topic for short, distilled presentations. They may be previews for other, longer, sessions or concise “in a nutshell” talks about research, programs, or policy. Handout materials are required of all speakers in this category.
